Russell J. Molina is a professional guitarist, music producer, composer, music educator and multi-instrumentalist based in Toronto, Ontario. His love for music has made him a perpetual student of the music world, learning more and more every day. He is pursuing a Masters degree in music composition at York University.

 

Aside from guitar, he can also play the piano, bass guitar, and drums. An open mind to various genres, an understanding of the functionalities of multiple instruments, and a creative musical mindset have allowed Russell to work and collaborate with multiple artists and bands. Russell’s genre fluidity has allowed him to perform in multiple settings and venues around the Greater Toronto Area. He has performed at Revival Event Venue, Paddock Tavern, Studio E, Bean and Pearl, Emmet Ray, BSMT 254, Tapestry, and various Cineplex locations. The Russell Molina Houseband is his first collective of musicians from around the Greater Toronto Area that plays a variety of musical styles including pop, jazz, and R&B. He now leads the Russell Molina Quartet/Quintet.

Alongside his collection of performances, Russell is a music educator who has been teaching beginner guitar for nine years. He has taught in private and group settings for the Greater Toronto Music School and multiple community centres across Brampton, including Cassie Campbell Community Centre, Chris Gibson Community Centre, and Greenbriar Recreation Centre. The inspiration from past and present teachers and mentors has motivated him to continue educating the next generation in the music he grew to love. Russell’s continued music studies at York University and a vast amount of performance opportunities will help shape his contributions to the world of music at large.

Russell also dabbles in photography, videography, and poster design. The work that he publishes on social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok has become a portfolio for local musicians in the scene to peruse through before hiring him. Aside from the arts and entertainment industry, Russell is an avid bowler who has won one regional tournament in the GTA.
